Muslim Students & Their Responsibilities
“What will be our contribution to the public discourse?”
As students transition into the world of higher education, they are presented with many challenges. Issues of freedom, choice, rights, and responsibilities are paramount during this stage. Frankly, the role student’s play in today’s society cannot be overstated. Particularly as Muslim students living in the west, we encounter many challenges and quandaries. Simultaneously, we have been blessed with a myriad of educational opportunities. These opportunities are accompanied with various responsibilities.
But what exactly are the responsibilities of Muslim Students?
Why should we contribute to the public discourse and what will our contribution be?
Sv IDEE, MashriQ and ISA hereby invite you to join the discussion vis-à-vis these thought-provoking questions!
Our special guest for the evening will be dr. Altaf Husain. He is a double alumnus from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and his M.S. in Social Work. He received his Ph.D. in Social Work from Howard University in Washington. Furthermore dr. Husain had served as a two-term national president of the Muslim Students Association (MSA National) and serves as the vice president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).
